roger turner

i’m playing guitar tonight in the vitamin B12, we’re supporting a solo set by Roger Turner. Turner’s a pretty spectacular improvising percussionist, i saw him once with Mats Gustafsson and Pat Thomas and another time with Phil Minton. Both compelling performances. For some reason it’s not easy to find improv stuff on youtube that isn’t marred by daft in-camera video effects, but here’s one of him with alan silva and johannes bauer.

whoops, forgot to mention, it’s upstairs at the open house pub in brighton, just over the footbridge, behind preston park station.

STALKER

ooh. i’m in a new band and it’s called STALKER.

STALKER have their first show this wednesday (feb 7th) at the hope in Brighton, supporting the truly awesome ACK ACK ACK. it snuck up on us kinda quick and we haven’t quite worked our shit out yet, but that’s the beauty of it.

what happens to guitars when they die…

so i had a guitar clearout on ebay here
and a couple of days later i found these:
the audition guitar lovingly restored to its former glory.
the red avenger stripped of all its dignity.
the other shitty guitar which was actually quite playable reduced to this and this and a few leftover bits amongst these bits.
it’s kind of amusing (especially his disdain for some of the parts) but also kinda sad.
