science: more fun than music
Feel moderately bereft. Have finally coasted thoughtfully to the end of the Berkely Physics For Future Presidents lectures - 26 hour-long teach-ins delivered by Richard A Muller, who has gently blown my mind numberless times over early Summer. From classical mechanics to the more abstract (and, to me, less interesting) quantum and relativity, it’s a non-specialist course that employs personal anecdote as often as demonstration, and I am suitably platonically smitten with the good professor. Real teachers enrich us; I think I’m going to write him a artlessly sincere letter of thanks.
Posted above is a conversational excerpt in which he talks through certain events at Roswell - the full lectures can be found here, consider the hell recommended out of them (and, yes, I took notes).
Personally, I’m moving on - initially for a dalliance with the University Of Nottingham’s Periodic Table Of Videos and thence…well, I’ll share as and when.
