Monday 7 November

Just as I was settling down to finish off the Cat Power article, there was the most beautiful fox’s wedding over Brighton. It was brief - a couple of minutes, no more - but fox’s weddings always are. But man, it was magical, a sprinkling of fairy dust over Preston Park.

I confess I first encountered it while editing a Simon Reynolds article.

Is it something a bit like a mackerel sky (not long wet, not long dry)?

Close. It’s actually when it’s raining and sunny simultaneously.

I always knew it as a monkeys’ wedding.

And I knew it as a Monkey’s Birthday.

Apparently the terminology gets a little odder as you go North.

worst interview i’ve ever read. worst cat power interview i’ve ever read. a thorough dissapointment. What is it with this dude and why was the interview more about an inane observation that the interviewer is ‘intimidating’ what ego rubbing - worse than Alan Yentobs documentary about John Coltrane - that was actually about alan yentob..hmm. i hate these complacent middle aged losers that’s the problem with you baby boomers you think art is solely in your reaction to it and feel the need to push that reaction on everyone else.
