stasis

No one seems to have advice on what to do when your diary tails off and the novelty wears off and, strangely, shyness, shame and restraint kick in. The last post I wrote, I erased within hours. It all just seemed very, very wrong. And that was weeks ago.

This might be exactly the moment when yr diary becomes most important, most pertinent, most a-thing-of-its-own… sorry, not sure what that last expression means. I re-read some of my stuff from 1996-8 and it’s incoherent but gripping (for me) - so badly written but actually far more honest.

Too right. Gotta keep the entries going, I find that no matter horrible and forced it can feel to scribble when the mind is empty, there will always be some future point when you’ll be grateful for your own bloody minded persistence…keep on tapping on that laptop!
