the boring part
so all the subbed files finally came in at 2.30 to 3am ish and i got to get some sleep and then the next day (tuesday? monday?) i woke up early having dreamt i was laying pages out all night and not feeling refreshed at all and in fact feeling like i’d been at work for 6 more hours and so then i got up and dropped all the ads in and some of the ads didn’t show up and other ads did show up but there were problems with the PDF files which meant that the sections wouldn’t distill properly but eventually tracked all of those down and rasterised them at 450dpi and then printed all the sections out to postscript and then distiiled them and then i had to keep stopping and deleting the postscript files becuase my hard drive kept filling up and eventually i got the whole thing distilled and then i started looking them all over one last time and then ET phoned me up from guernsey and made me phone him back and then proceeded to give me half an hour or so’s worth of corrections down the phone so then i re-wrote all the postscript and re-distilled everything and then started FTPing it all up to the printers and eventually it got late so i left it running and went back to bed and that night i dreamt i was dstilling pDFs all night and then i woke up stupidly early and couldn’t get back to sleep but eventualy dozed off about 9am but them the phone went and it was the printers and it turns out there was a problem with some of the files because they were acrobat version 1.5 compatible and they only support version 1.4 compatible and also some of the files hadn’t FTPed up the line intact so they ditched the whole lot their end and i worked out the files that were 1.5 compatible were the ones i’d opened up and edited in acrobat so that was relatively easy to fix because all i had to do was strip that 1.5 support out of those files but then i had to FTP the entire thing back up to the printers again and then it got late again and so i went to bed and then woke up and it’s today (thursday apparently) .. got stuck into some mixing.
